Instructions
Preheat Oven:
Set to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans.
Make the Vanilla Cake:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, beat sugar, eggs, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
Add melted butter and milk, then gradually mix in dry ingredients.
Divide batter evenly between the pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Custard Filling:
Heat milk in a saucepan until warm.
In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch until smooth.
Gradually add warm milk to the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
Return mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring until thickened.
Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and let cool completely.
Make the Chocolate Ganache:
Place chopped chocolate in a bowl.
Heat heavy cream until just boiling, then pour over chocolate.

Assemble the Cake:
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread custard evenly over the top.
Place the second cake layer on top.
